Just a few comments on assignments in general. Whatever you do or wherever you go in the USAF, you're going to learn and pick up "stuff" (training, experience, points-of-contact) that may impact what you do after you leave active duty. I'll give you my example. I was initially trained in aeronautical and astronautical engineering before I saw the light and moved into the medical field and became a flight surgeon for the rest of my career.
